I am interested in performative structures and participatory situations, in the dynamic of improvisation and in performance as a material form, both kinetic and visual.
In 2003, I started working with the medium of live performance, mixing the genres of burlesque, clowning, performance art and feminist/punk aesthetics. I launched the feminist performance project The Holy Whores with Dara Parks, and we performed in and around London's underground circuit of burlesque shows, sex parties, dingy bars and lesbian clubs, from the Whoopie Club to Bar Wotever and Club Rouge. I began in 2005 to collaborate with Norwegian lesbian performance art group The Hungry Hearts, performing in live concerts and co-directing several award-winning short films, including In Your Face and Last Kiss Goodbye (Winner of the The One Minute Awards for Best European Short Film). In 2009, I founded CUMUL with Gillian Sneed, and we created performance installations and participatory events in New York, performing at venues like the WOW Café Theater, Bushwick SITE Festival, and the Bond Street Theater.
For the past ten years, I have performed at museums, galleries, festivals and conferences in Japan, Norway, Germany, England, United States, Portugal, Italy and the Netherlands, Some of the venues I have performed at include MoMA PS1, the Whitney Museum, Performa Biennial, and the Leslie Lohman Museum.
